About the practice
Analysis with definitions attached
Monitorkernelgrid is an independent Manchester consultancy helping app teams understand subscription revenue and trial conversion without hiding uncertainty.
Why the practice exists
Subscription decisions sit between disciplines. Product teams see entitlements and behaviour. Growth teams see acquisition and paywall tests. Finance sees settlements, fees and refunds. Each view can be internally correct while the combined story is wrong.
Monitorkernelgrid was established in Manchester to do the careful work between those views: define the population, reconcile sources, preserve cohort history and make limitations visible before recommending action.
Who leads the work
Eleanor Marsh, Principal Analyst, leads every engagement from scoping through readout. Her background spans consumer app measurement, recurring-revenue analysis and financial reconciliation with product, data and finance teams. Where specialist data engineering support is required, it is named in the proposal rather than presented as an anonymous delivery team.
We do not claim that one metric settles a commercial choice. The aim is a shared evidence base strong enough for informed disagreement.
Working principles
Definitions travel with the number
A conversion rate without its eligible population, date anchor and maturity rule is not decision-ready.
Reconciliation comes before explanation
When store, provider and warehouse totals differ, we investigate the bridge before inventing a behavioural narrative.
Uncertainty stays visible
Sparse markets, recent cohorts and changed instrumentation create genuine limits. The brief says what is unknown and what would resolve it.
Your team can inspect the reasoning
Deliverables include definitions, cuts and reconciliation notes. We explain the work in plain English to product, finance, growth and leadership colleagues.
Based in Manchester, working across the UK
Work is usually delivered remotely, with workshops available at our King Street office or on-site by agreement. Client data is handled through an agreed governed route; direct customer identifiers are neither requested nor needed for standard analysis.
